Nintendo reveals streamlined Wii, winter line-up

Nintendo will release a streamlined Wii console in the UK and Ireland for Christmas, which will come with Wii Party and Wii Sports. It also announced its gaming line-up for winter.

Official Nintendo Magazine reports that the console is smaller and designed to sit horizontally, as opposed to the current one which sits vertically. It comes with a Wii Remote Plus controller and Nunchuk, along with the two games.

However, it is no longer is backwards compatible with Gamecube games and controllers.

A Nintendo spokesperson confirmed that the console will arrive in Ireland in time for Christmas. There has been no release date confirmed for any other markets outside of Europe as of yet.

Nintendo also revealed its autumn/winter line-up of Wii titles, which will include The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on 18 November and Kirby’s Adventure Wii in December

Along with this, Nintendo announced it will reduce the price on two of its most popular Wii Titles – Super Mario Galaxy and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess – in September.

For the Nintendo 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land, where Nintendo mascot Mario makes his 3D debut, will be out in November and Mario Kart 7 and Super Pokemon Rumble will be out in December.
