Amazon may reveal its Android tablet this Wednesday, and is rumoured to be called the Kindle Fire.

TechCrunch said it got a sneak preview of the device, claiming that it will be a 7-inch LCD tablet with a TI dual-core OMAP chip, possibly with a clock-speed of 1.2GHz.

It reportedly looks similar to the BlackBerry Playbook. Gdgt reports that this is because Amazon outsourced the design of the tablet to the PlayBook’s design manufacturer Quanta in order to spped up the release date in time for the Christmas season.

Amazon reportedly built a custom version of Android and uses its own Android App Store.

It also made deals with several magazine publishers such as Hearst, Conde Nast and Meredith, which will tailor their titles for the 7 inch screen size. The tablet will also use the Kindle bookstore, Amazon’s video streaming service and its MP3 service.

The Amazon Kindle Fire may ship in mid November and the device is rumoured to cost between US$250 and US$300.
