Craigslist user offers to legally change name for Apple WWDC ticket

27 Apr 2012

One person so eager to have a ticket to consumer tech giant Apple’s sold-out Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) has posted an ad on Craigslist offering to legally change his or her name to that of the person who provides him or her with a ticket.

Tickets to Apple’s annual WWDC went on sale on Wednesday and sold out within two hours.

Now an ad on online classified ads website Craigslist carries the headline, ‘I will legally change my name to yours for a WWDC ticket – $1600 (San Francisco)’.

In the ad, the individual says that in additional to legally changing his or her name to that of the person who provides him or her with a WWDC ticket, he or she will also perform various tasks on behalf of the ticket provider for one year. Specifically, jury duty, any court-ordered community service for up to 40 hours, looking after vehicle licence and registration at the department of motor vehicles, and “visit your senile grandfather once a month.” If the ticket provider’s name happens to be Jebodiah, the poster of the ad is offering a $500 bonus.

At WWDC this year, which runs 11-15 June in San Francisco, California, Apple has said developers will be able to explore the latest capabilities of iOS and OS X Mountain Lion via 100 technical sessions, and 100 hands-on labs run by 1,000 Apple engineers.
