30 May 2012

People are more likely to insure their favourite gadgets than take out a policy for the benefit of their own health, a survey from Behaviour & Attitudes for Gadgetinsurance.ie reveals.

When asked what insurance policies they would take out if the price was right, gadget insurance topped the list, with 33pc of respondents saying they would obtain one of these policies, while 31pc said they would opt for health insurance.

The gadgets people are most likely to insure are mobile phones or smartphones (42pc), laptops or notebooks (37pc) and digital cameras or camcorders (24pc).

Surprisingly, only 9pc of respondents said they would insure an iPad or similar tablet computer.
