Apple granted injunction blocking sales of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in US
In another victory against the Korean smartphone manufacturer, Apple has secured a second injunction against Samsung, this time blocking sales of the Galaxy Nexus.
Last week, US District Judge Lucy Koh approved a court order to block sales of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the US. She has now issued a second court order against the sale of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
The Apple vs Samsung patent trial isn’t due to commence until 30 July, making Apple’s success in securing the two injunctions unprecedented, as pre-trial injunctions are rarely granted.
A hearing will take place today considering putting the injunction on hold following Samsung’s appeal.
Apple was required to post a bond of more than US$95m to secure the injunction, as this money will have to cover damages to Samsung if the injunction is deemed wrongful.
Apple has also settled an iPad trademark lawsuit with Chinese company Proview for US$60m.
