TomTom’s new hands-free car kit for smartphones (video)
The newly designed TomTom hands-free car kit for smartphones launches today, featuring new mounting options and offering users higher quality audio for calls and navigation when behind the wheel.
There are two versions of the new kit to support the current iPhone port and micro-USB ports on other smartphones. The grip can be adjusted to fit any smartphone, with or without a cover, either in landscape or portrait orientation, gripped from side to side or top to bottom.
Once connected via Bluetooth, the phone’s voice recognition functionality can be activated, allowing for hands-free operation.
The new kit comes with a built-in 2-watt speaker, and TomTom claims its advanced noise and echo cancellation system can dramatically reduce background noise from incoming calls and remove ambient noise from outgoing calls. The kit also comes with an extendable microphone that drivers can clip to their sun visors in order to ensure their voice is picked up loud and clear.
The hands-free mode makes the phone’s call answer and reject buttons easy to reach and these can even be used when the phone is not mounted.
The mount also comes with a fast charge adapter, so users can keep their battery power up as they go, and dual phone connection gives the option of pairing two devices simultaneously.
The hands-free kit is available now for €99.95, or €149.95 with TomTom’s Western EU navigation app.
