Is Apple preparing a new iMac line-up with Retina display?

7 Sep 2012

Reports from the US of dwindling 27-inch iMac supplies in Apple Stores have set in motion rumours that Apple may be about to upgrade the popular iMac family with new models.

Traditionally, when Apple stocks of a product, such as a class of iPod or a Mac dwindle, it heralds the arrival of a new generation of that device family.

According to MacRumors, 27-inch iMac supplies have dried up, although supplies of the 21-inch version are still in plentiful supply.

Apple has been expected to release a new version of its iMac family powered by Intel Ivy Bridge processors.

It is also being speculated that the new generation of iMac computers will come with Apple’s Retina display technology.
