German court rules in Motorola’s favour in patent dispute with Microsoft
A regional court in Mannheim, Germany has ruled that Google-owned Motorola Mobility did not infringe on Microsoft’s technology patent.
Microsoft claimed Motorola infringed on its patented technology that allows applications to work on different handsets, saving developers the need to write different code for different handsets.
Though the German court ruled in Motorola’s favour, this case follows three wins for Microsoft against Motorola in Germany, which saw the tech giant awarded sales injunctions against Motorola smartphones.
“This decision does not impact multiple injunctions Microsoft has already been awarded and has enforced against Motorola products in Germany,” said Microsoft’s associate general counsel David Howard, Reuters reports.
