The Nokia Lumia 920
Nokia is to start shipping its new range of Windows 8-based smartphones, the Lumia 820 and the Lumia 920, in Europe this week, followed by the US.
Nokia said the phones will reach the first operators and retailers in select countries this week.
The Lumia 820 and the Lumia 920 will appear in stores in France and the UK this week, followed by Russia and Germany and other select markets during the rest of November.
The Nokia Lumia 920 will also be available in Australia, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam in November.
In the US, the Finnish handset maker said AT&T will sell the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820.
Meanwhile, Verizon Wireless will sell the Nokia Lumia 822, the new Windows Phone 8 smartphone that was revealed yesterday ahead of the launch of Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 8 software.
T-Mobile will offer the Nokia Lumia 810 in the US. AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile will have phones in stores in the US in November, but no specific dates have been given.
“After seeing the enthusiastic response to the incredible innovation in the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, we’re eager for people to start experiencing the phones for themselves,” said Jo Harlow, executive vice-president, Nokia Smart Devices, in a statement.
Nokia said operators and retailers will announce local pricing and exact availability for each country.
