Microsoft reveals a custom controller for Tomb Raider’s Xbox 360 release

11 Jan 2013

The original 1996 video game that made Lara Croft a household name will soon see a rebirth on the Xbox 360. To celebrate, Microsoft, developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix have created a custom limited-edition controller Croft herself might have wielded.

The Xbox 360 Tomb Raider Limited Edition Wireless Controller features a two-layer colour finish, courtesy of the artists at Crystal Dynamics, which creates a tactile, worn-looking appearance.

The customisable directional pad can switch from a plus-shaped design to a disc for better control, and the controller has a wireless range of up to 30 feet.

Those that buy the commemorative controller will also get a download token for an Xbox 360 exclusive playable character, Scavenger Arthur.

The controller will be released alongside the game worldwide on 5 March.

Tomb Raider for Xbox 360

Tomb Raider, Lara Croft’s origin story, has been built from the ground up for Xbox 360. Since the first game launched in 1996, more than 30m games have been sold in the franchise, making it one of the industry’s most lucrative, and it has also spawned movies, advertising, magazines, books and other merchandise.
