The National Gallery of Ireland has gained a technology partner in the form of Samsung IT & Mobile Ireland. The year-long partnership will see Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy Tab 10.1, incorporated into exhibitions, offering visitors an additional level of interaction with the works on show.
Several of the tablets have already been introduced along with ‘The Sketchbooks of Jack B Yeats 1897-1955’, which opened on 1 February. This exhibition showcases the renowned Irish artist’s sketchbooks in chronological order, while the digital presentation available via the Galaxy Tab devices lets visitors browse through four of these sketchbooks in their entirety, as well as selected letters and photographs from the Yeats Archive.
“We are thrilled to announce our technology partnership with the National Gallery of Ireland. This union represents an important part of our continued effort to move into a new space as a technology solutions provider,” said Linda Nolan, senior marketing manager at Samsung IT & Mobile Ireland.
“Our involvement with the Jack B Yeats sketchbooks exhibition as our first event of the partnership is very fitting, given his place in history as one of Ireland’s most talented artistic figures,” she added.
