As if rumours about eye-tracking capabilities on the Samsung Galaxy S IV weren’t enough, comes fresh speculation about Apple’s iPhone 5S emerging in June with fingerprint recognition.
The latest report from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo suggests Apple will reveal not only a new iPhone 5S but also a lower cost iPhone alongside its iOS 7 operating system in June.
The new device are expected to ship in July.
According to Kuo the key differences between the iPhone 5 and the newer iPhone 5S will be a faster A7 processor, a new SmartFlash that uses white or yellow flash depending on the lighting conditions, and a fingerprint chip under the home button.
The new lower cost iPhone will resemble the iPhone 5 only it will come with a hybrid casing of fiberglass and plastic.
According to MacRumors.com, Kuo said: “We expect Apple will introduce its new iPhones and iOS7 in June, and start shipping the new iPhones (5S and low-cost model) in the FDD version in July.
“Both dates are earlier than last year’s roadmap. We attribute this to: (1) an effort to avoid repeating the fatal mistake of last year of the delayed iPhone 5 launch, which gave competitors room to grab market share; and (2) the new iPhones this year are mainly designed on the basis of the current iPhone 5, which suggests development time could be reduced,” Kuo said.
