3Dcamp returns for its sixth year at the University of Limerick’s Computer Science and Information Systems building for another informal conference looking at interactions between the digital and physical worlds.

The one-day event is based on the BarCamp format, popularised in Silicon Valley. These user-generated conferences, also known as ‘unconferences’, are open and participatory workshop-based events where content is provided by the participants.

3D printing and fabrication will, of course, be a huge focus of this year’s 3Dcamp, but there will also be talks on Minecraft scripting, adaptive music, gesture-based interfaces, mobile gaming and even Bitcoin.

The keynote address will be provided by Dr Conor MacCormack, co-founder and CEO of Mcor Technologies, the Irish firm pioneering low-cost paper-based 3D printing that recently secured US$1m in funding and teamed up with office supplies giant Staples on a 3D printing Experience Centre in the Netherlands.

This year’s 3Dcamp takes place on Saturday, 25 May, from 9am to 6pm. While the event is free to attend, registration is required.
