LG's Nexus 4
LG Electronics has today announced a new edition for the Nexus 4 line-up, the Nexus 4 White. But the colour-based update is less exciting than news that Google will apparently be teaming up with a different smartphone-maker on a Nexus 5.
The Nexus 4 White is exactly what you expect from the name: all the specifications of a Nexus 4, only this time in a white package.
It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and sports a 4.7-inch 1,280 x 768 True-HD IPS Plus display with Zerogap Touch technology. Inside, there’s a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB RAM, and photographs can be captured with an 8MP camera.
The Nexus 4 White will hit Hong Kong first, starting tomorrow, and it will then roll out globally over the next several weeks, spreading across Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East.
But that might be where LG’s work on the Nexus range of smartphones ends, according to Won Kim, VP of LG Mobile in Europe. In an interview with Dutch website All About Phones, Kim said the Nexus 5 will not come from LG.
Could it be that Google has another South Korean manufacturer in mind? Samsung could be set to take up the Nexus torch, having formed a key part of Google’s I/O announcements with its stock Android Galaxy S4.
