Dell’s latest laptops from its Alienware range of high-performance PC gaming systems were unveiled last week at E3 in Los Angeles, debuting an angular new design inspired by jet engines and stealth bombers.
The durable new Alienware 14, 17 and 18 laptops feature all-new performance graphics, processors and components newly packaged in an anodised aluminium shell and magnesium alloy body, and the keyboard on each laptop is protected by a reinforced plate.
Each of the new laptops features quad-core fourth-generation Intel Core i7 processors, Nvidia GeForce 700 series graphics and DDR3L memory, which requires lower voltage, thus increasing battery life.
Audio powered by Dolby Home Theatre v4 is delivered through Klipsch speakers and there’s support for up to three (Alienware 14) or four (Alienware 17 and 18) storage drives.
Dell Alienware 14
The 14-inch Alienware 14 (€1,429) is the more compact choice and, in response to users’ demands, now comes with an anti-glare LCD display with wide viewing angles. There’s also an option for a full-HD IPS display.
Dell Alienware 17
The 17-inch Alienware 17 (€1,499) claims desktop-grade performance and this version can be configured with an optional 3D panel for immersive gaming enthusiasts.
Dell Alienware 18
The 18-inch Alienware 18 (€2,199) features a full-HD display with PLS wide-angle technology, Nvidia SLI dual graphics technology as standard, and an overclocked CPU option with maximum speed of 4.3GHz.
All three laptops also come with the updated Alienware Command Centre software, which includes the exclusive AlienFX lighting control system. This allows users to create their own custom lighting themes and special effects, with up to 20 colours across 10 different lighting zones. Alienware has worked closely with game developers to incorporate AlienFX in more than 60 game titles.
Alienware also announced an update to its award-winning X51 gaming desktop, offering more performance with improved technology in nearly every category over the previous generation. The compact desktop features Intel fourth-generation Core i5 and i7 processors, enthusiast graphics up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670, and a dual hard drive configuration of 256GB SSD and 1TB storage.
