Next iPhone to come with a slow motion camera?

The next iPhone (could it be the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6?) is rumoured to be include a stronger processor and an improved camera system that includes the ability to record video at a rate of 120 frames-per-second, allowing slow motion video capture of beautiful imagery.

Up until now speculation about what new groundbreaking features will be included in the next Apple iPhone has centred on a fingerprint recognition system and potentially more enhanced features for Siri. As well as this there are high expectations for a budget version iPhone device with a polycarbonate body.

9to5Mac has reported that the new device will differentiate itself in terms of its camera capabilities, in particular a new slow motion video capture capability that would no doubt compete against features such as Zoe in the HTC One and Nokia’s SmartCam technology as featured in the Lumia 925 and some of the novelty features in the Samsung Galaxy S4.

9to5Mac’s analysis and testing of iOS 7 beta code has unearthed a feature in development simply called “Mogul” that allows the camera to record video at a rate of 120 frames-per-second, allowing beautiful imagery to be presented in a slow-motion state.

Apple has consistently been adding new camera features with its iPhone devices. For example the iPhone 4S came with 1080P video recording and face detection and the iPhone 5 came with a Panorama feature. The forthcoming iOS 7 operating system pointed to new filter effects.
