Off with you!

It’s holiday time, and for some consumers that means taking a break from BlackBerrys, iPads, laptops and other gadgets that buzz and ping with alerts, phone calls, and text messages. An infographic offers tips on how to switch off.

The infographic published by greatist on Visual.ly begins by laying out reasons to unplug, such as getting better quality sleep and spending quality time with friends and family. Next come tips on how to switch off when it comes to email, smartphones and social media.

Some of the recommendations include organising email settings so only the most essential messages reach the inbox, deleting apps from your smartphone that take up a lot of attention (such as games or social media apps), and deactivating social media accounts.

The infographic wraps up by serving up suggestions on how to unplug a little bit every day, as well.
