Mobile handset and phone maker Doro has signed a strategic retail agreement with national sight loss organisation NCBI that will see the charity offer Doro mobile and fixed line phones in its shops in Ireland.

Doro’s mobiles and telephones have been designed to have extra large and clear screens, and functions specifically designed to help users who have sight issues, like a larger font size and colour combinations to increase contrast.

NCBI will stock Doro devices through its shops in Dublin and Kilkenny and online.

“NCBI’s shop provides practical solutions to many of the problems that people with sight loss encounter,” said NCBI group CEO Des Kenny.

“Many of those who use our services are dealing with sight loss later in life, which can leave them vulnerable to becoming isolated.

“Staying in contact with friends and family is essential so easy-to-use mobiles and landline telephones are very popular in our shop,” Kenny added.

Doro recently announced it has now passed 5m handset sales globally.

“Our relationship with NCBI is a perfect way to reach those who may experience reduced vision,” said Doro Ireland managing director Chris Millington.
