Microsoft releases firmware update for Surface Pro 2 tablets

20 Jan 2014

Microsoft has released a partial update designed to resolve Surface Pro 2 battery problems for users whose machines were affected by a firmware update that came out in December.

One of a number of updates, the December update followed on the heels of a November update that enabled the Wi-Fi chip to perform at a lower power state, improving battery life by up to 25pc.

However, the December update caused hardware problems, preventing the tablet from fully charging or showing users it wasn’t being charged even though it was.

The new update is designed to resolve these issues.

The latest firmware update – which has yet to be mentioned on official Microsoft blogs – is understood to be arriving in waves.
