The Nikon AW120
Nikon has launched its latest range of Coolpix cameras with an emphasis on their durability and versatility.
The seven new models have been launched to cater to specific functions, with the AW120 appearing to be the highlight of the releases.
The 13MP camera caters towards those who take their cameras on extreme adventures, with a waterproof casing that allows it to go to depths of up to 18m. The camera has also been designed to be shockproof to 2m and freeze-proof to -10°C.
It also features its own navigation equipment, with built-in GPS/GLONASS, world maps and a compass.
Like many cameras have now adapted into their new models, the AW120 will include Wi-Fi capabilities to be able to select and send photos immediately online without the need to upload to another computer.
In terms of spec, the camera features an ultra-wide 24mm f/2.8 lens with 5x optical zoom, giving optimal brightness even in the darkest of scenes on land or underwater.
Video recording is what you expect from a high-end camera, and the AW120 shoots motion at 1080p/60i with optical zoom and autofocus.
The Nikon S32
For those looking for a more casual camera for holiday snaps, Nikon has released the S32, which doesn’t include any bulky lens that sticks out from the main body of the camera.
Emphasis is being placed on the simplicity of the device, with a straightforward touchscreen menu that gives the user the option of adding in relatively basic camera effects and filters, in both pictures and video.
While not as rugged as the AW120, it still has the ability to withstand most family holiday occasions, as the case is dustproof, shockproof to 1.5m and waterproof to 10m.
As you may expect, the family-orientated camera comes in a range of colours, including blue, pink, white and yellow.
Both the AW120 and S32 are due for release at the end of this month, with the AW120 retailing at €320, and the S32 expected to be priced at €120.
