Google Translate adds handwriting support for 13 more languages

13 Mar 2014

Users of the Google Translate Android app can now scribble away in 13 more languages, now that an update has added additional support to the app’s handwriting recognition.

The new languages include Arabic, Bosnian, Cebuano, Gujarati, Hmong, Kannada, Maltese, Mongolian, Persian, Punjabi, Somali, Tamil, Telugu.

Google implemented handwriting recognition into its translation software as far back as 2011 and today Google Translate lets users speak, type, write or take a photo to translate.

Other features of this latest app update include bug fixes and stability improvements.

The update should be rolling out to Google Translate app users now, though the app can also be downloaded from the Google Play store.
