The new Apple iPhone 6

Eircom, Vodafone Ireland and Carphone Warehouse have said Apple’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will arrive in Ireland on 26 September, indicating that countries outside large markets won’t have long to wait.

Apple yesterday revealed its 4.7-inch iPhone 6 and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will be arriving in North America, the UK, France, Germany, Singapore, Australia and Hong Kong on 19 September.

Traditionally, smaller European countries had to wait up to a month to receive the coveted devices.

However, a Vodafone Ireland spokesperson this afternoon confirmed, “Yes, Friday 26 September is sales day” for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in Ireland.

Vodafone Ireland added that customers may now register their interest.

Eircom also confirmed the imminent arrival of the new smartphones. “We are delighted to offer the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus to our Meteor and eMobile customers,” said Neill Dorrian, director of mobile at Eircom.

“Apple is an incredibly popular brand with our customers and the anticipation of these new handsets has been unprecedented,” he said.

To clarify that actual devices will be in situ in Ireland on 26 September rather than it being a pre-order situation, a spokesperson for Eircom confirmed that actual units will be present in Ireland on 26 September.

“We expect to have them in, but we are not sure how many we will have,” the spokesperson said, urging potential buyers to register their interest via Meteor’s website.

Meanwhile, Carphone Warehouse has also launched a page where eager iPhone fans can register their interest and be notified when the devices will be available to order, with pre-orders opening on 19 September.
