Apple has released iOS 8.0.2, having fixed issues that emerged in the first update of the operating system since iOS 8 was launched, which affected cellular connectivity and Touch ID on iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices.
Earlier this week, Apple pulled its latest iOS 8.0.1 update due to complaints from users that it was chock-full of bugs that affected reception and stopped the Touch ID fingerprint sensor from working.
As well as resolving these issues, the new update fixes a bug that prevented HealthKit apps being made available on the App Store, as well as other issues, including problems accessing photos in the Photo Library, as well as an issue that caused a surge in cellular usage when users received SMS or MMS messages.
According to Apple, the bugs affected fewer than 40,000 iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices that came with the iOS 8.0.1 update earlier this week.
In a statement on its support site Apple said, “iOS 8.0.2 is available now. It fixes the loss of cellular service and use of Touch ID that may have affected you if you have an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus and you downloaded iOS 8.0.1. It includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1.
“We apologize for inconveniencing you if you were affected by the bug in iOS 8.0.1.”
Users who wish to apply the update just need to go to the general settings on their iPhone device and select the Software Update option to download the update.
