Apple issues invites for Town Hall event on 16 October

8 Oct 2014

Apple has issued a colourful invite to an event at its campus in Cupertino, California, on 16 October, stoking rumours that the company may be about to unveil a golden iPad.

The invite mysteriously reads: “It’s been way too long.”

It is illustrated by a colourful outline of the top of the Apple logo, suggesting something colourful could be in the works.

At the event Apple is expected to reveal new iPad tablet computers as well as new Mac desktop and laptop devices.

Apple will also use the event to launch the public version of OS X Yosemite at its Town Hall theatre on the campus.

The date will no doubt coincide with the launch of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus in China as well as a rumoured 20 October launch of the Apple Pay function for iOS devices.

Apple has been rumoured to be planning a gold edition of the iPad as well as the current silver/white and space grey/black found in its current iPhone range.

There have also been rumours of a larger 12.9-inch iPad tablet device coming to market. Could it be the iPad Plus?

But as usual, only Apple really knows.
