Skype has previewed its latest redesign for Windows and Mac 7.0 with a view of making users’ desktop experience consistent with that of their smartphone.
The desktop version of the popular video chat and voice calls service will now feature thumbnail pictures of user’s contacts, a bubble-style chat interface, and icons for video and audio calls that are consistent with the mobile design.
File sharing has also been improved with new icons making it easier to visually scan for files in chat history. Scroll down to see screenshots on the redesign.
“For the last year we’ve dedicated a lot of time to refresh the chat experience in Skype,” the company wrote in a blog post.
“We’ve brought more improvements to the desktop. Photos in your new Skype for Windows and Mac apps show up as you’d expect, beautifully displayed for your instant viewing.
“On Windows, there’s more spacing between contacts and chats, as well as message previews for unread chats, making it even easier to follow conversations.”
Following user feedback, Skype have also announced improvements to Outlook.com version of the service that the company say makes it easier to find and chat with friends.
