Xbox One gamers can now pre-order the epic new Halo compilation The Master Chief Collection ahead of its 11 November release date.

The set compiles all four complete Halo games – including a complete remaster of Halo 2 – as well as every multiplayer map ever released.

As such, the sizeable set will take up a huge amount of space – almost all 45GB of useable space on a single Blu-ray, in fact, as well as a content update upon launch that is estimated to be another 20GB.

“From the start, our philosophy has been to give Halo fans the best possible experience and not compromise the quality or features of the collection,” wrote Dan Ayoub, studio head for Halo external development at 343 Industries, in a statement.

However, punters will be able to access the game’s campaign mode as the additional content (which includes some multiplayer features) is installing.

“Yes, the update is large, but we weren’t about to cut corners to save disc space,” said Ayoub.

“This ensures that you are getting every bit of Halo goodness we can fit in. Our work is not done, however, as we continue to optimise the online experience to ensure a smooth multiplayer launch.”
