YouTube launching 60fps videos, analytics and more

30 Oct 2014

Video-sharing site YouTube has announced that, among a raft of new features set to launch in the coming months, 60 frames per second (fps) videos will soon be possible.

YouTube’s list of new features in the pipeline include analytics, more royalty-free audio files, and better use of collaborators. But it’s the 60fps news that will get gamers, proud of their video uploads, interested.

“Your video game footage with crazy high frame rates will soon look as awesome on YouTube as it does when you’re playing, when we launch support for 48 and even 60 frames per second in the coming months,” said YouTube in a blog post.

Elsewhere, elements such as fan funding, better playlist management, promotional work through SiriusXM and subtitles contributed by fans put YouTube in line for a fairly innovative 2015.

“We take your feedback seriously, which is why we’re focusing on these areas that you’ve told us are most important for you. So keep your comments coming on Google+ or Twitter. We’ll be working closely with you to bring these features and more to the creator community in the future.”
