Irish broadcaster RTÉ’s hit crime drama Love/Hate has secured a stunning deal with Netflix, lining it up for TV screens across Europe.

Nidge, Siobhan, John Boy and Darren are all set for a European audience, with France, Germany and the Benelux countries each enjoying streaming rights.

With French and German dubbing for the first series already announced, there will be an awful lot of interesting translation on the way.

TV Studios Global Entertainment, on behalf of RTÉ, secured the multi-year deal. The fifth series recently finished on RTÉ, with conflicting reports on when and how the show will return for a sixth.

“This is fantastic news for RTÉ and Octagon Films,” said Jane Gogan, RTÉ’s head of television drama.

“Our ambition has always been to make good drama for Irish audiences that can work internationally, as well. After the excellent engagement with the most recent series of Love/Hate, it’s good to see international audiences looking for the show, as well.”

The show has launched the careers of numerous Irish actors, with viewing figures so impressive that Love/Hate has already been sold to 30 countries, including the UK, Norway, Australia, the Middle East (including more than 20 countries from India to Yemen), Singapore, South Korea, Israel, and Brazil, along with online services Hulu, Netflix and Amazon in the US.
