The new 12.9-inch iPad Pro may come with a stylus, “to enhance user experience”, according to reports.
Apple’s cross-demographic dominance of the tech market looks set to add yet another major section of society, with the stylus sure to win over the countless Etch-a-Sketch fans so far underwhelmed by the finger-led use of today’s smart devices.
KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple will provide an in-house solution to the problem which creative users of iPads have, that of the need for an additional tool for more accurate drawing.
“Given that it’s more precise than a person’s fingers, a stylus can be more convenient to use than the combination of keyboard and mouse in some cases,” says Kuo, in a report obtained by Apple Insider.
“Therefore, we believe Apple’s stylus will improve the user experience of 12.9-inch iPad.” According to the report, the initial stylus will be a basic model, but future generations could include a “gyroscope accelerometer”, which can allow the user to write on air before it’s translated onto a device.

Apple has been working on different stylus projects for a while now. Just before the New Year, for instance, the company obtained a patent for an innovative smart pen that transcribes a handwritten message into a digital version when connected to a smartphone or tablet.
It’s probable that very few people will require a stylus initially, although given the adoration Apple fans have for the brand, who knows how popular this add-on could be?
Also, considering this iPad is going to be so physically imposing, the entire device may well be more of an appeal to the more creative users, therefore the people most likely to entertain the idea of using a stylus to track more accurate sketching and note taking.
What we do know is it’s a far cry from what Steve Jobs envisioned back in 2010 at an iPhone OS4 event. “It’s like we said on the iPad, if you see a stylus, they blew it.”
