In case you missed it, Android Lollipop just got an upgrade

10 Mar 2015

Search giant Google’s Android 5.1 operating system, Lollipop, offers new features, such as support for multiple SIM cards, HD voice and device protection.

Launched while the whole world looked the other way, Android 5.1 has some pretty clever add-ons, with ‘quick settings’ now allowing users to join Wi-Fi networks and control paired Bluetooth devices.

Not having to go through your main settings screen, in these instances, is a nice touch.

But it’s the security settings that appeal most. With ‘Device Protection’, your lost or stolen device will remain locked until you sign in with your Google account.

What’s more, even if the phone is reset to its factory settings, those without your Google account log-in cannot get access.

This feature will be available on most Android phones and tablets shipped with Android 5.1 in addition to Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.

Elsewhere HD voice calling is included, with multi-SIM compatibility sure to appeal to some.
