When playing video games against fellow gamers online, nothing is more infuriating than an opponent who quits in the face of an inevitable defeat.

NetherRealm studios obviously agrees, and the game developer is making steps to ensure those who indulge in such cowardly behaviour while playing its forthcoming Mortal Kombat X are suitably punished.

Speaking during a recent live stream, NetherRealm revealed that those who try to exit a bout will lose via ‘Quitality’. “If you quit, your head blows up and the other guy wins,” said the company, as reported by IGN.

The feature means players won’t be able to massage their win/loss record by quitting right before their opponent lands the killer blow.

The latest instalment in the long-running beat ’em up series, Mortal Kombat X is due for release on April 14. In recent weeks we’ve brought you the news that stalwart character Johnny Cage and Friday The 13th’s Jason Voorhees are to appear in the game. You can now add the Predator from the Eighties action classic of the same name to that list.

A newly released trailer (below) reveals the character will feature in the game’s additional Kombat Pack, which can be purchased separately but is included in the game’s Kollector’s Edition, Limited Edition and Premium Edition.

Mortal Kombat X picks up where the 2011 Mortal Kombat reboot leaves off before moving 25 years into the future, where MK veterans, new characters, and the next-generation kids of the older fighters will battle.
