Bing’s desktop market share growing in the US

17 Apr 2015

New statistics have revealed that, while Google is still by far the most popular search engine in the US, Bing’s market share is growing.

A report released by data analytics company comScore that examined the US desktop search marketplace found that Google led the explicit core market in March with 64.4pc of search queries conducted.

It was followed by Microsoft’s Bing with 20.1pc, marking a 0.3pc rise from the previous month. Yahoo! Sites followed with 12.7pc, then came Ask Network and AOL, with 1.8pc and 1.1pc respectively.

It should be noted, the report does not take into account mobile searches. Still, it’s positive news for Microsoft, which is likely to still be suffering from Facebook’s decision last December to no longer display Bing search results after the social network launched its own tool for finding information.

Facebook’s search bar had previously used Bing to provide links to standalone websites.
