NovaUCD-based IT certification solutions provider Q-Validus has today announced the launch of a new technical services division in response to what it says is a growing international demand for certification programmes.
Until now, the company, which was set up in 2007, has being working with bodies such as the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the British Computer Society (BCS), primarily on end-user computer skills certifications. It said the new division will enable it to work with new clients to develop and deliver online certification programmes for their candidates across a wide range of areas – anything from customer service and phone skills to accountancy and product innovation.
The company said it will support clients with their new programme development needs, from feasibility to concept to specification, as well as programme implementation, validation and maintenance. It will also help organisations specify and define programmes in line with national or international frameworks, where relevant. In addition, it will work with organisations on selecting to right technology and systems for their particular needs.
“We are seeing an increasing trend towards certification in the market place,” said Garry Cleere, managing director, Q-Validus. “With this new division, Q-Validus can now provide clients with a plan which outlines all the necessary steps required for a successful certification programme development project and provide cost estimates based upon the client’s requirements.”
“Producing valid certification programmes can be a considerable process, but it can be simplified with a standard process and we bring that expertise to our clients.”
Cleere said the company’s work to date had been based on pre-existing relationships. “Now the plan is to offer the services more generally and to seek clients in different areas,” he said.
The company’s recently completed programmes include Computer Wings, a practical computer skills certification programme, and Spreadsheet Safe, which is designed to assist businesses in reducing the risks associated with poor spreadsheet design, use and control. Both programmes have been endorsed by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and have also been successfully mapped to the UK NOS (National Occupational Standards) e-Skills ITQ 2009.
