Version 1 signs €4.8m IT deal with pharma player Almac

Dublin-headquartered IT services company Version 1 has won a three-and-a-half-year deal with global pharmaceutical drug-development provider Almac Group.

Version 1 will support and enhance the company’s global Financial and Clinical systems running on Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.

Deployment of the system was seen as a cost-effective alternative to off-shore support.

“Almac Group has built a reputation for innovation, quality and customer service and these were the key attributes we looked for in selecting a managed services partner to entrust our core business systems,” explained Andrew Hillis, group head of information services at Almac.

“Version 1 has proven to be an innovative on-shore managed service provider, with a focus on operational improvement and delivering business value which has enabled the delivery of new services and competitive market advantage for our global organisation.”

Version 1 has a 400-strong team across the UK and Ireland. Last month, Version 1 acquired UK-based Forest Business Operations from Northern European IT services player Tieto Corporation for an undisclosed sum.

The move is the first in a series of acquisitions aimed at making Version 1 Ireland’s first €1bn services company.

“We look forward to building a strong partnership with Almac Group, delivering value-driven technology solutions and services to enable strategic growth in this highly competitive market and to continue to expand our Oracle Competency Centre in Belfast to service more international customers,” said Version 1 director Tom O’Connor.
