Interxion, one of Ireland’s largest cloud and data centres, has signed a deal with US-based Innovative Interfaces to facilitate European library digitisation.

The two companies announced the deal which will allow Innovative Interfaces to connect and interact with their European clients and meet the needs of modern libraries and the challenges of library automation on the continent.

Interxion has 34 data centres in 11 European countries, including Ireland, and has been seen by Innovative Interfaces as their ideal choice above others to establish their European operations.

Innovative Interfaces library services platform, Sierra, has been the most rapidly adopted product in among some of the major world libraries.

It is also expected to provide Innovative Interfaces a host of ICT services including IT consolidation, implementation, planning and support services from Interxion’ s centre in west Dublin.

Tanya Duncan is managing director of Interxion Ireland and she believes the agreement is beneficial to the ICT sector in Ireland as a whole: “It is very encouraging for the Irish technology sector when US based companies like Innovative Interfaces decide to base their European IT operation in Ireland. This decision is based on the availability of the necessary skills, top class data centres and the required connectivity. We are looking forward to assisting Innovative Interfaces in their European expansion.”
