ISA to roll out product management Skillnet for software CEOs and execs

Product management is critical to the survival of any good software company and with this in mind, the Irish Software Association (ISA) Software Skillnet has launched a range of product management programmes.

Product-oriented software companies typically have a valuation three times greater than service-oriented companies. Product management is now becoming the key strategic capability for software companies to scale and grow and is essential to sustainable global success.

Developed in association with the Irish Software Association, Scala offers hands-on support and guidance to software and technology company CEOs and executives, by bringing international product management expertise to Ireland in an affordable suite of programmes.

The programmes are delivered by Integrated Thinking, a strategic product management group, and Dublin Institute of Technology.

A key strategic tool

“Product management is most effective when adopted top-down within companies as a key strategic tool to drive revenue and scale,” said John Maguire of S3 Group and chair of the ISA Product Management Working Group.

“Scala addresses this through a combination of individually tailored strategic guidance to CEOs, as well as immediately applicable training in product management fundamentals to those who will be tasked with delivering to that strategy.”

For the last four years, the ISA’s Product Management Working Group, which comprises senior product managers from high-growth software companies, has led the development of this suite of capability-building programmes.

Scala CEO combines individual advice, mentoring, and in-company workshops, as well as select group peer learning, to provide specific individual guidance for software CEOs who are interested in leading the adoption of revenue-driving product management best practice in their companies.

The complimentary Scala Executive provides one-day programmes in product-management practitioner topics, such as product pricing, product roadmapping, and customer requirements. These have been identified as the key areas of interest across the sector for those individuals in the senior team tasked with leading or delivering product-management capability.

“The new Scala programmes combine with our industry-led post-graduate and MSc programmes in product management to provide a wide range of solutions to Irish software companies,” said Edel Creely, managing director of Trilogy Technologies and chairperson of the Irish Software Association.
