Dropbox revamps Pro, boosts cloud storage to 1TB

27 Aug 2014

Dropbox power users and cloud warriors, rejoice! The online storage player has beefed up its paid product Dropbox Pro service with a range of new features, including boosting storage to 1 terabyte.

Aimed at a plethora of professionals, particularly the creative types, the new Dropbox Pro includes passwords for shared links which adds a layer of security for people who collaborate.

This is further enhanced by expirations for shared links in order to safeguard sensitive content. Users can choose how long links are available.

Another feature provides ‘view only’ permissions for shared folders, once again giving content owners more control and a better sense of security.

‘Remote wipe’ lets users delete their Dropbox Pro folder from a lost or stolen device while keeping the data securely backed up in Dropbox.

Dropbox has also moved to simplify its pricing structure to just one price.

The US$9.99 a month service has also boosted the amount of space Pro users can store to 1TB or 1,000GB – this is about 10 times the amount of storage previously available to Pro users.
