The third-largest sporting event globally in 2012 is estimated to attract some 2bn viewers and 800,000 visitors.

Sustainability is the theme for the event’s Global Village, which brings together marine, food, innovation and green industries to showcase the best Ireland has to offer in each sector, highlighting how Ireland is leading the way in transitioning to a low-carbon, competitive economy, spawning world-class enterprise companies and emerging as a leader in green finance in the process.

The Sustainable Way tented area in the Global Village will promote sustainability through demonstration, exhibitions and practical applications. There will be a solar-powered DJ, local use of food produce, fashion shows using recycled materials, sculptors making sculptures from recycled materials, and recycled areas for the benefit of charities.

The Sustainability Summit, Enabling Leadership through Sustainability, on 5 July, is a key event in the Global Village, headed by the green pillar chair Stephen Nolan, executive co-ordinator of the Green IFSC.

July’s Sustainability Summit presents a unique opportunity for countries and corporates taking part in the race to come together with Ireland’s politicians, leaders and innovators in the sector to debate and share best practice approaches to sustainability. Discussion panels will focus on public policy, enterprise and finance focusing in enabling, financing and delivering sustainable growth – local to global perspectives.

Tickets to the various events are available now.
