EMC, the global high-tech multinational which employs more than 2,500 people in Ireland, is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing and big data.
Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect and analyse their most valuable asset - information - in a more agile, trusted and cost-efficient way.
EMC established a presence in Ireland in 1988, with its first manufacturing facility outside North America in Ovens, Cork, followed by sales offices in Dublin (1990) and Belfast (2005). In 2010, the Cork plant became an EMC Centre of Excellence (CoE) - one of only seven worldwide.
The CoE is EMC’s largest manufacturing site outside the US, playing an integral role in EMC’s initiative to develop and manufacture energy-efficient information infrastructure technologies. Over the past quarter century, the Ovens plant has evolved from a basic manufacturing facility into a world-class CoE. The CoE consists of 28 business functions with 44 nationalities on site speaking 26 languages spread across 600,000 sq feet.
