The latest from the Apple rumour mill is a 12.9-inch iPad with split-screen capabilities

The latest rumours ahead of Apple’s big reveal in San Francisco tomorrow (9 September) suggest Apple may be releasing a monster 12.9-inch iPad capable of supporting split-screen apps for better productivity.

All eyes are on Apple this week, which along with iOS 9 will be revealing a revamped product line-up of new iPhone devices, an Apple TV and the long-fabled iPad Pro.

In addition to an iPad Mini 4, Apple will ship an iPad Pro that will start with 64Gb of storage and, of course, a 128Gb model.

According to the usually well-informed Mark Gurman of 9to5Mac, the iPad Pro will ship in gold, silver and space grey. The Pro will come with built-in LTE capabilities and will use LTE (4G) chips similar to those used in Apple’s latest MacBooks.

The new iPad Pro will also support a new class of Apple-designed Bluetooth keyboards.

Split-screen capabilities on the device will allow the equivalent of two full-sized portrait iPad apps to be displayed. The new iPad Pro will also come with an A9X chip, will have four stereo speakers and a single Lightning port at the bottom.

In terms of the iPhone, an additional new colour class called Rose Gold will be revealed.
