An electric sportscar has completed an epic journey from near the Arctic Circle to the world’s southernmost city, passing through 14 countries in 70 days of travel.
The sportscar, developed by engineers in Imperial College London, ran on lithium-ion battery technology that powered two electric motors during the vehicle’s journey, according to Press Association.
According to the team making the 16,000-mile trip, while there were no carbon implications of the voyage, there was difficulty in finding power points at which to recharge.
The aim of the event was to change perceptions of the electric car and to inspire young engineers to develop their own projects.
