The International Trade Commission has ruled in Eastman Kodak’s favour deciding that Kodak’s digital camera technology doesn’t violate Apple’s patent rights.
Apple filed a case against Kodak in April last year, just months after Kodak accused Apple and Research in Motion (RIM) of infringing its patented way of allowing people to preview images.
The victory may generate as much as US$1bn in new licensing royalties for Kodak.
Apple’s complaint targeted devices in the Kodak Z, M and C series as well as its Slice and Playsport video cameras.
The International Trade Commmission determined that two patents in question weren’t being infringed upon and that one was invalid.
