Irish in Silicon Valley to play host to Hollywood powerbrokers

Senior executives from HBO, Warner Bros and Bloomberg will attend an Innovation in Entertainment event organised by the Southern California chapter of the Irish Technology Leaders Group in September.

The Irish Technology Leaders Group (ITLG) 2011 Innovation in Entertainment event will be held at the Sony Pictures Studios on Tuesday 13 September.

Attending the event will be Bill Daly, senior vice-president of post-production at Warner Bros, as part of a panel discussion on technology and innovation in the entertainment industry.

Daly has been involved in the production of hundreds of films, including blockbusters such as the Harry Potter films, Space Jam, Lethal Weapon films, The Matrix trilogy, Batman and Robin, Batman Begins, Troy, The Corpse Bride, Steven Spielberg’s AI, Ocean’s 11, The Perfect Storm, Superman Returns, The Departed, Happy Feet, 300 and The Dark Knight. Daly recently completed post-production of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

Also taking part will be HBO’s Jay Roewe, senior vice-president, West Coast Production for Home Box Office.

Roewe has overseen signature HBO series including Big Love, Entourage, and True Blood, as well as the highly-anticipated series Luck, Enlightened and Game of Thrones.

Now in its second series, Game of Thrones, an American medieval fantasy television series, was filmed in the Titanic Quarter of Belfast, Northern Ireland. One of the show’s famous features is its iconic throne and that very throne of swords be on display for the event.

Bloomberg west coast senior producer Nora Zimmett will moderate the event.
