A new post-graduate qualification in product management for the Irish software and technology sectors created by a group of Irish software companies will be launched at Dublin Institute of Technology in September.

US product management guru Rich Mironov was in Dublin this week to speak with Irish companies about agile product management and how that aligns to product ownership.

He also spoke about the current post-graduate qualification in product management for the Irish software and technology sectors developed by a group of Irish software companies which are members of the ISA Software Skillnet.

With the academic leadership of the Dublin Institute of Technology, the programme is both strategic and applied, allowing practising product managers to develop and hone their expertise.

This is believed to be the first accredited third-level course of its type in the world.

The first group of 18 companies have 30 product managers and senior product executives on the current programme. The next post-grad programme commences in September 2012.

Graduates from the first post-grad course can now extend their qualifications to complete a masters degree in product management.
