Dublin-based e-learning portal Onwards Learning has secured an agreement with China’s Central Institute for Vocational and Technical Education (CIVTE) to develop and run an English language e-learning and teaching portal.
The deal will see the company provide tailored and aggregated content and apps to be consumed by potentially 30m students.
The co-operative agreement is under the auspices of the Chinese Vocational Adult Education (CVAE) Network.
The CVAE represents the educational, training and skills requirements of more than 30m people on behalf of the Chinese Ministry of Education.
LearnOnEnglish customers will have access to content, software apps and services from world-leading third-party branded language learning publishers and developers. The portal will feature popular brands of self-paced, collaborative and tutor-led e-learning resources in a social network design along with the latest features in online community, navigation and support.
“The China Vocational and Adult Education division of the Ministry Of Education is happy to work with Onwards Learning Ltd of Ireland as the preferred provider of English Language Learning Solutions to our user base and website visitors,” said Mr Zhang, director of CVAE.
“This agreement will provide CVAE online visitors with the opportunity to enhance their English-language skills using advanced technologies, applications, tools and services for learning, assessment and accreditation via the innovative LearnOnEnglish aggregated language e-learning platform.”
It is estimated that 380m people throughout China require high quality education and training resources. Global expenditure on digital products will account for 7pc (or US$2.5 bn) of the total English language learning market by 2016, according to Ambient Research.
