Danish toy giant Lego has created a woman scientist minifig (also known as minifigure), named Professor C. Bodin. Lego has given this minifig five stars for her creativity, plus she can also help other minifgs out, say if they lose a limb while out on the playing field.
Some of us still have our retro Lego sets, and accompanying minifigures, lovingly stashed away in the attic somewhere and now there’s a new minifig in town to add to the collection. And, for kids who may be playing away with their Lego sets after school, let us introduce you to Professor C. Bodin (that’s her ID tag).
This new minifig, dubbed ‘Scientist’, in Legoland will be recognisable by its lab coat, spectacles and two lab flasks (containing blue and yellow liquids, respectively), probably inspired by the lab flasks pioneered by the German chemist Richard Erlenmeyer. The Scientist also has a purple pen in her lab-coat pocket and wears a purple T-shirt underneath her coat. Lego says she is an esteemed scientist, with a reputation for being “brilliant”.
For instance, Prof Bodin won has won the “coveted Nobrick Prize” for her discovery of the theoretical System/DUPLO Interface, Lego has announced. Impressive, indeed!
Who is the Scientist, really?
So here is a more in-depth look at Lego’s description of the minifig, and what she will be able to accomplish while out on in Lego playgrounds in homes all over the globe.
Apparently this “brilliant” Prof Bodin’s specialty is finding new and interesting ways to combine things together.
“She’ll spend all night in her lab analyzing how to connect bricks of different sizes and shapes (she won the coveted Nobrick Prize for her discovery of the theoretical System/DUPLO® Interface!), or how to mix two colors in one element,” says the iconic maker of the colourful building-block brand.

And, not only that, but Prof Bodin will also lend her support to other mini-figureens if they get into a spot of bother, so they can explore new places on the planet where Lego lives.
“Thanks to the Scientist’s tireless research, Minifigures that have misplaced their legs can now attach new pieces to let them swim like fish, slither like snakes, and stomp around like robots,” explained a representative from the Lego crew.
“Her studies of a certain outer dimension have even perfected a method for swapping body parts at will!”
This minifig’s special strengths are strength and speed, and Professor C. Bodin has also been awarded five stars from Lego for her creativity.
The other crowd
The Scientist is part of the LEGO Series 11, which features 11 mini-figures. The other little Lego creatures who may appeal to Lego lovers, are Evil Mech, Lady Robot, Holiday Elf, Barbarian, Pretzel Girl and Scarecrow.
Oh, and there’s also Welder, Grandma, Mountain Climber, Gingerbread Man, Island Warrior, Saxaphone Player, Diner Waitress, Constable and – last but not least – Yeti.
The Lego brand will be selling the mini creatures in its usual ‘mystery’ bags in toy shops, while the new 11 figureens will also come with Lego sets that are sold.
