Gigglebit: ESA photo captures snowfall over Europe

Wintry snow has been accumulating on mountains across Europe, while Ireland and the UK also had snow at lower levels last week, a new image captured from space and released on Friday by the European Space Agency (ESA) shows.

In the image, the snowfall, which is visible as cyan, hovers over the West of Ireland, the north and west UK, and a good portion of continental Europe.

The AVHRR instrument aboard EUMETSAT’s Metop polar orbiting satellite captured the image on Monday, 8 December, at 11.40 (UTC). Here is the image in its entirety:
