Google admits love affair with Twitter, accounts reveal

13 Jul 2009

Google has decided to come clean on its trysts with Twitter and has published an entire directory of Google Twitter accounts to ensure that it too is part of the tweetstream.

In a blog posting yesterday, Karen Wickre of the Google Blog & Twitter Team revealed close to 40 different Twitter profiles, from Google’s central account to Twitter profiles for YouTube fans, Earth & Maps tools, Android apps, tweets from Google research scientists and even tips for online publishers.

“Like lots of you, we’ve been drawn into Twitter this year,” said Wickre.

“After all, we’re all about frequent updates, and there’s lots happening around here that we want to share with you. Of course, we enjoy watching, and contributing to, the tweetstream (we hope you find tweets useful, too).”

She said that because there are many programmes and initiatives across the company, there are a large number of active Twitter accounts.
