Meteor launches online music store

11 Nov 2009

Mobile operator Meteor has just launched an online music store for digital downloads directly to Meteor customers’ mobile handsets or PCs.

The new Meteor music store has a back catalogue that includes the four major labels – Universal Music, Warner Music, EMI and Sony BMG – as well as almost 2,000 independent labels.

The price tag

Cost per track download is €1.50 and this is DRM (Digital Rights Management) free, so once you pay for one track you can download it to your mobile or PC or both and the track is yours to copy over to your other MP3 players, computer, etc.

There are more than 1.4 million tracks on the music site, and to mark the launch Meteor has teamed up with Universal Music and Irish rock band The Blizzards to give customers the chance to win a signed Gibson guitar from the band.

For customers

“We are very excited to launch Meteor’s new music store. We believe the new store will offer greater flexibility for our customers to purchase and enjoy music, giving them fast and easy mobile access to music on both their phone and PC with customers only charged once for the purchase,” said Elaine Robinson, director of advanced product development at Meteor.

“We currently have 1.4 million tracks available and have plans to continuously update with the latest tracks to ensure we are providing our customers with the best quality music through the Meteor Music Store.”
