Newstalk becomes first Irish broadcaster to release iPad app

2 Nov 2010

Newstalk 106-108 FM has become the first Irish broadcast media outlet to release an app for the iPad, which includes live video streaming.

“Apps have become an important part of our station infrastructure,” said Newstalk CEO Frank Cronin.

“Our ‘official’ JNLR listenership figures may be on the up, but add those listening live online on the web or via our Android, iPhone or iPad apps and we are a substantially larger audience.”

Developed by thisisaim.com, the Newstalk iPad app provides all the features from their iPhone app, such as listen live, archive, podcasts and latest news, and has also added live video streaming from their TV studio cameras.

Newstalk TV will now feature on the iPhone app from today onwards.

The iPad app also introduces an alerts feature, to allow listeners to keep up to date with breaking news and events. Listeners can unsubscribe to this if they wish, too, from Newstalk app alerts.

The Newstalk 106 – 108 FM iPad app is available on the iTunes App Store now.
